9. Youth Festival with Foreign Guests - (Dış İlişkiler Başkanlığı)

9. Youth Festival with Foreign Guests (13-16 May 2010)

Last year, in 2010, many foreign guests attended the 9th Youth Festival which has traditionally been organized by AK Party Youth.

65 foreign guests from 35 different countries, including Greece, Somalia, Estonia, China, Belgium and Qatar, attended the festival that lasted from May 13 to May 16.

The festival program is started from the most fascinating city of the world, Istanbul. The organization began in the evening of Thursday on 13th May with a welcoming dinner in the hotel. Starting from Friday morning, with our guests, we visited several magnificent historical places inherited from Byzantium and Ottoman Empire, like Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan Sarnıcı), Hagia Sophia Museum (Ayasofya Müzesi), Malta Manor (Malta Köşkü), Grand Bazaar (Kapalı Çarşı) and Topkapı Palace (Topkapı Sarayı). In the meantime, please be reminded that we had our marvellous lunch in Malta Manor which is located in a forest. At the end of this amazing day, we had our dinner during a boat trip, hosted by Chairman of the AK Party Youth, Lawyer Fatih Sahin. People from all over the world to meet in Bosphorus, which separate Europe and Asia, it was a wonderful night to be always remembered.

On Saturday, we went to Izmir, the third largest city of Turkey, where the festival took place. After the plane landed Izmir, we visited Ephesus inherited from ancient Greece. During Ephesus visitation, Ertuğrul Günay, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, and Dr.Beatrix Karl, the Minister of Science and Research of Austria, accompanied us.  And then, we had the chance to see the church of Mary Mother which has a great significance for Christian World. After we came back to downtown, we had our dinner in Konak Quay, the attraction center of Izmir. During the night, our chairman Fatih Sahin answered the questions posed by foreign guests.

At the last day of the trip, we went to the place of festival. The atmosphere of the auditorium was wonderful. Around 25000 people were already there for the festival.

The opening speech was made by the Chairman of the AK Party Youth, Fatih Sahin. And then, our Prime Minister and the Chairman of the AK Party, Recep Tayyip ERDOGAN made his impressive speech. A large proportion of the Cabinet and provincial MPs also attended to the 9th Youth Festival.

At the end of the Festival we had the opportunity to listen to famous Turkish singers.
In the afternoon, we left the festival place and came back to Istanbul by plane. Of course it was a tiring trip but it was not difficult to see the pleasure in the faces of our guests after an amazing experience in Turkey.

As the last but not the least, the 10th Youth Festival which will be held in Istanbul and Trabzon will undoubtedly be at least as unforgettable as the 9th Youth Festival in 2010.
